Pastor Larry Flohr was born and raised in Windsor Ontario, the third of four children (three sisters). He graduated from the University of Windsor (several times - B.A. 1973, Honours B.A. 1974, M.A. 1977.) with a major in Philosophy. In 1976 the Lord led him to be part of the first entrance class at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario. He met his wife Marjorie at the beginning of his vicarage in 1979. She is a graduate of Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo and Brock University in St. Catharines. They were married in the fall of 1980. Pastor Flohr served his vicarage year at Ascension Lutheran Church in Montreal (a Slovak-English congregation in a Greek neighbourhood in a French speaking city).
After graduation from the Seminary, he was ordained into the Holy Ministry at his home church, First Lutheran in Windsor. From there, the young couple move west. His first placement was as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Springside SK. Their two daughters, Kathleen and Johanna, were born in Yorkton. In the spring of 1985 he was called to be pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Nanaimo BC, where the family lived and grew for 11 years. Their son Matthew was born in Nanaimo.
The call to serve as Pastor of Christ Our King Lutheran Church in Mississauga came in the fall of 1996 and the family soon moved east. The Lord continues to bless both pastor and people.
Pastor Basil Christi (Vasilios Christoforidis)
The Reverend Basil Christi (Vasilios Christoforidis) was a former spiritual skeptic who converted to Christianity twenty years ago and embraced Lutheranism, in particular, fourteen years ago.
Prior to following the Holy Spirit’s prompting to prepare for the pastoral ministry, Pastor Christi served as the Director of Christian Outreach (DCO) at The Church of Saint Mark- Lutheran, in Mississauga, for five years. In 2009, he began his studies at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, in St. Catharines, and completed his vicarage at Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Waterloo, Ontario, under the supervision of the Reverend Robert Krestick.
On May 31st, 2014, he received his first Call to minister to the congregations of Peace Lutheran Church, in Taber, Alberta, and Duchess Lutheran Church, in Duchess, Alberta. He was installed as their pastor on September 7th, 2014, and faithfully served as their pastor for almost two years. Pastor Christi received and answered the Call to serve the congregation of Christ Our King Lutheran Church as Associate Pastor in June of this year. Over the course of his spiritual journey, his time as DCO, his vicarage, and his years serving in Alberta,
Pastor Christi has been afforded numerous opportunities to connect the Christian community to the greater community-at-large for the sake of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, God’s Word to the world He so loves, and it is his most heartfelt desire to equip and enjoin the congregation of Christ Our King Lutheran Church in ministering to those whom God sets in our midst, in the City of Mississauga. Pastor Christi and his wife, Rebecca, have been married for nineteen years and have two children: a ten-year-old daughter, Evangelica (Angel), and a six-year-old son, Alexander.
